Collection: Jumping spiders
Welcome to the World of Jumping Spiders
Choosing the perfect companion can be an exciting challenge with so many distinct varieties available. If you are looking for a deep dive into what "locale" actually means—and how these geographic origins influence the ultimate size, colour, and personality of your spider—we recommend visiting our comprehensive guide: our jumping spider locale guide. There, we break down every lineage in our care, from the giants of the Everglades to the high-contrast rarities of the Caribbean, ensuring you have all the information you need to select the right match for your collection.
All of our jumping spiders are captive-bred in the UK, legally sourced, and raised under expert husbandry conditions. We ship live invertebrates across mainland Great Britain with heat packs included during cooler months, so your new companion arrives safely no matter the season.
📷 About Our Photos: Stock & Variation
The photos provided are of our actual spiderlings currently in stock. However, please keep the following in mind before purchasing:
Individual Variation: Just like people, no two spiders are identical. While they are all from the same high-quality captive-bred lineage, there will be slight variations in size, leg length, and abdominal patterns between individuals.
The "Luck of the Draw": The spiderling pictured is a representative of the group. The specific individual you receive may have slightly different markings, but it will be of the same health, age (i4), and locale as described.
Genetic Diversity: One of the most exciting parts of the jumping spider hobby is the genetic "lottery." Especially with locales like Everglades or Standard Florida, the final adult colour phase (orange, grey, or white) is determined by genetics that only become visible after several more moults.
Unsexed Slings: At the i4 stage, it is not possible to guarantee the sex of the spider. Their true colours and gender traits will emerge as they mature.
Our Promise: While we cannot guarantee an exact "look" for an unsexed sling, we do guarantee that every spider we ship is active, healthy, and feeding reliably on D. hydei fruit flies.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are jumping spiders legal to keep in the UK?
Yes. Jumping spiders (genus Phidippus) are not subject to CITES restrictions and are legal to keep as pets in the UK. All specimens we sell are captive-bred and do not require any special licences.
What do jumping spiders eat?
Our slings are established on Drosophila hydei (fruit flies). As they grow, they can be moved on to small crickets, bottle flies, and other appropriately sized prey. Full feeding guides are available on our blog.
Do jumping spiders make good pets for beginners?
Absolutely. Phidippus regius is widely regarded as one of the best beginner exotic invertebrates — they are curious, handleable, and relatively straightforward to care for compared to many tarantula species.
How are they shipped?
We ship live invertebrates across mainland Great Britain using Royal Mail Special Delivery before 1pm service. Orders are packed with insulated liners and heat packs during autumn and winter months to ensure safe arrival.
What instar (age) are the slings?
Unless otherwise stated, all slings are sold at i4 — an active, feeding stage that is robust enough for shipping and early enough that you get to enjoy watching them grow into their adult colours.
