Florida Locale: Regal Jumping Spider (Phidippus regius)

Stage: i4 (4th Instar) | Origin: Captive Bred (Florida Bloodline)

The Florida Advantage

  • Superior Size: The Florida peninsula is home to the “giants” of the species. These Florida lineages are renowned for producing the largest recorded females, often reaching over 22mm.
  • Vibrant Colours: Though currently in their “stealthy” juvenile black-and-white phase, Florida females have the highest genetic probability of developing stunning orange, peach, or snowy-white coats as they mature.
  • Famously Bold: Florida variants are remarkably inquisitive and less “skittish” than other locales, even at sling size — making them a joy to observe and handle.
  • Captive Bred: Hatched and raised in captivity, already well-adjusted to indoor life and feeding schedules.

Specifics for i4 Slings

  • Size: Roughly the size of a garden pea (approx. 5–7mm).
  • Current Diet: Hunting Drosophila hydei (Large Fruit Flies) with gusto. We recommend feeding twice weekly.
  • Appearance: At i4, they are in their juvenile black-and-white phase. True colours and iridescent chelicerae (emerald for males, rose/purple for females) emerge around i5/i6.
  • Sexing: Sold as unsexed at i4.

📷 About Our Photos: Variation & Potential

Please Note: The images provided include photos of our actual adult Florida spiders to showcase their potential colouration. Because the slings are unsexed juveniles, they have not yet developed their adult colours. Like all Phidippus regius, they undergo a spectacular transformation as they grow. While the Florida lineage is celebrated for its vibrant orange, peach, and snowy-white colour potential, every spider is a unique individual — the final adult colouration is a result of genetic diversity!

Note on Sexing: This spider is sold as unsexed. If you have a preference for a male or female, please message us — we’ll always do our best to find your perfect match.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Florida locale special?
Florida Phidippus regius are the largest of the species, with adult females regularly exceeding 22mm. They also have the highest genetic probability of developing vibrant orange, peach, or snowy-white adult colouration, making them one of the most popular and sought-after locales in the UK hobby.
