Madagascar Tiger Hissing Roach Nymphs (Gromphadorhina grandidieri)
Add a touch of the exotic to your collection with our Tiger Hissing Roach Nymphs. These stunning invertebrates are a sought-after color variant of the classic Madagascar Hissing Roach. Known for their bold, high-contrast banding and impressive size as they mature, "Tigers" are widely considered one of the most beautiful roach species in the hobby.
Unlike many other roaches, these nymphs are slow-moving, wingless, and cannot fly, making them an approachable and fascinating pet for both beginners and experienced keepers.
Why Keep Tiger Hissing Roaches?
- Stunning Aesthetics: As nymphs grow, they develop deep black and vibrant orange/yellow stripes that make them stand out in any bioactive enclosure.
- Docile & Handleable: They are famous for their calm temperament. While they may "hiss" when startled, they are harmless and make excellent educational pets.
- Long-Lived Inverts: With proper care, these roaches can live for several years, allowing you to watch them grow from tiny nymphs to impressive, heavy-bodied adults.
- Easy Maintenance: They thrive on a simple diet of fresh vegetables, fruits, and high-protein pellets, making them one of the lowest-maintenance pets in the shop.

Pro-Tip for the Invert Keeper
The Climbing Escape-Proof Secret: While Tiger Hissing Roaches are heavy and slow, nymphs are surprisingly agile climbers and can easily scale smooth glass or plastic. To prevent "stealthy" escapes during maintenance, apply a 2-inch wide barrier of petroleum jelly or specialized insect barrier grease around the inside top rim of the enclosure. This creates a slippery zone that even the smallest nymphs can’t cross, giving you total peace of mind!
