The Ultimate Enrichment: Freshly Hatched Green Bottle Flies (Lucilia sericata)
Take the guesswork and wait-time out of feeding with our Freshly Hatched Green Bottle Flies. While many suppliers only offer dormant pupae, we take the extra step to turn our own casters and hatch our own flies in-house. This ensures that when you receive your order, you are getting high-energy, vibrant feeders ready for immediate use.
Green Bottle Flies are the gold standard for aerial enrichment, providing the erratic movement and flight needed to stimulate the hunting drives of jumping spiders, mantises, and arboreal reptiles.
Available Variations
We offer two convenient formats to suit the size of your collection:
- Active Flies Only: Perfect for those with multiple hungry mouths to feed immediately. You receive a batch of high-energy, ready-to-hunt adults.
- The Hybrid Mix (Flies + Casters): The ideal "slow-burn" option for keepers with only one or two pets. This pot contains active adults for immediate feeding, plus a selection of fresh casters (pupae). As the first wave of flies reaches the end of their life, the casters will begin to hatch, providing a fresh second wave of food and extending the shelf life of your purchase.
The "Farm-Fresh" Advantage
- Hatched & Ready: Skip the 3–7 day wait for pupae to emerge. Our flies arrive active, with half a jelly pot, meaning your pets can eat the moment the package is opened.
- Peak Vitality: Because we manage the lifecycle from caster to fly, we ensure our flies are gut-loaded and hydrated before they ship, making them a more nutritious meal for your predators.
- Stimulating Movement: The brilliant metallic sheen and buzzing flight trigger an immediate predatory response in sight-hunters like Jumping Spiders and Mantises.
- Safe & Clean: These flies do not bite, chew, or harm your pets. They are a "no-risk" feeder that can be left in the enclosure without fear of them attacking a molting invertebrate.

Pro-Tip for the Invert Keeper
The "Cool-Down" Feeding Hack: Since we ship these as active adults, they can be quite fast! Before feeding, place the container of flies in your refrigerator for about 2–3 minutes. This safely "numbs" the flies, making them sluggish and easy to catch with tweezers or to tap out into your enclosure. Once they warm back up to room temperature inside the terrarium, they’ll regain their flight and begin the "hunt" for your pet!
