Live Blue Bottle Flies | Ready-Hatched Aerial Prey

Take the wait out of feeding with our ready-to-go, hatched Blue Bottle Flies.

Skip the days of waiting for pupae to emerge! Our Live Blue Bottle Flies (Calliphora vomitoria) are delivered fully hatched and active. Housed in a ventilated tub with wood wool for resting space and half a sugar jelly pot for immediate hydration, these flies are primed and ready to be introduced to your predators.

Blue Bottles are the premium choice for keepers of Jumping Spiders, Mantids, and Arboreal Tarantulas. Their erratic flight and loud "buzz" provide the perfect predatory trigger for visual hunters.

Key Features of Our Live Fly Tubs

  • Instant Feeding: No more "hatching anxiety." Open the tub and feed your pets immediately upon arrival.
  • Enrichment in a Tub: We include wood wool to provide a large surface area, reducing fly stress and preventing them from trampling one another during transit.
  • Sustained Nutrition: Each tub includes half a jelly pot, ensuring the flies remain hydrated and energised from our facility to your door.
  • The "Buzz" Factor: Perfect for stubborn feeders. The vibration and movement of a Blue Bottle Fly are often the only thing that will tempt a shy or "off-food" Jumping Spider.

Ongoing Care & Maintenance

To get the most out of your flies, remember that they have high metabolic rates. Unlike larvae, adult flies require constant access to food and moisture to stay alive for more than a couple of days.

  • Feeding: Keep a fresh jelly pot or a cotton wool ball soaked in honey-water inside their tub.
  • Temperature: Store at room temperature for maximum activity. If you need to slow them down for easier feeding, place the tub in the fridge for 2–3 minutes before opening; this "chills" the flies, making them sluggish and easier to catch with tweezers.
  • Hydration: Ensure the jelly pot doesn't dry out, as dehydration is the number one cause of fly die-offs.
